Homesteading with Animals – 6-Week Class Series at Violette Hill Hay Farm
Starts Friday May 23rd – Class times 9am-11am or 11am-1pm
$25 per class • All ages welcome • Drop-ins welcome anytime!
Purchase the whole 6-week course for $120
Come spend your Saturdays learning hands-on homesteading skills with our amazing farm animals! Whether you join us for all 6 weeks or just drop in for one, each class is packed with fun, learning, and animal time.
Class Schedule:
Week 1 – Meet the Animals
Get to know our chickens, goats, rabbits, ducks, and more! Learn what each animal needs and how they help around the homestead.
Activity: Animal scavenger hunt + feeding time.
Week 2 – Chicken Basics
From chicks to eggs — learn how to care for chickens, gather eggs, and clean a coop!
Activity: Collect eggs and help us check the nesting boxes.
Week 3 – Rabbit Care & Responsibility
They’re soft, sweet, and great homestead animals! Learn about feeding, grooming, and how to safely handle rabbits.
Activity: Groom and feed the rabbits + learn how to clean their hutch.
Week 4 – Goats & Ducks
Goats give milk, ducks lay eggs, and both are full of personality!
Activity: Feed the goats, meet our ducks, and compare duck vs. chicken eggs.
Week 5 – Compost & Manure Magic
Turn waste into garden gold! Learn how animal manure is safely composted to feed your soil.
Activity: Help start a compost pile and learn how to build your own at home.
Week 6 – Safety, Farm Products & Celebration!
Let’s wrap it up with farm safety tips and fun ways animals help produce goods like soap, fiber, and more!
Activity: egg carton art and share your favorite animal from the class.

Activity: Animal scavenger hunt + feeding time.
Week 2 – Chicken Basics
From chicks to eggs — learn how to care for chickens, gather eggs, and clean a coop!
Activity: Collect eggs and help us check the nesting boxes.
Week 3 – Rabbit Care & Responsibility
They’re soft, sweet, and great homestead animals! Learn about feeding, grooming, and how to safely handle rabbits.
Activity: Groom and feed the rabbits + learn how to clean their hutch.
